Parent and Teacher Resources: For Parents
Families that play together, stay together. We want to extend the Please Touch Museum experience into your home. Through dramatic and role playing child directed, process driven and purposeful play provide a strong foundation for children to safely explore boundaries. Play allows families to connect, communicate and sets a course of common ground. Never underestimate play as a tool to understand your child, and for a child to better understand themselves.
Quick tips for family interactions
- Ask open ended questions. For example: What colors do you see?
- Give up a little control in order to gain a lot of ground. Allow your child to be a part of decisions and listen to their suggestions and opinions.
- Prepare an environment that can support play and tolerate mess.
- Focus on process rather than product. Concern yourself with the experience rather than the item created.
